Lookout--Hallie is walking!

Hallie was placed into our arms nearly two months ago, and she is doing great! She is walking now!!! Over the past several days she has been walking all over the house. She even gets up by herself without having to hold onto anything! That, paired with her curiosity and ability to get into anything, and look out--they'll be no stopping her!

She has a slight cold. Mostly a runny nose and a watery left eye. If she is not improving by tomorrow morning I may take her to the doctor. I want her to be well for the "tea party" my office is throwing for her on Friday afternoon.

We have decided on a day care! We were fortunate to get spots in our top two choices. But, after much thought and consideration, we have decided to send her to the Foreign Language Immersion Child Care Center. It is the only child care center I know of in Memphis that teaches the kids Spanish--even Hallie's young Toddler I class. This is supposed to be very good for her development. Also, it is located on Mud Island (where we live) so it is most convenient for Brett and me. We have heard nothing but good things from other parents who send their kids there. She starts August 22nd!

Oh, one more thing! Hallie received her Certificate of Citizenship on Monday! Also, she received a letter from President Bush welcoming her (Grandpa Zunk is extremely happy about this memento). I can finally breathe a sigh of relief as I have been waiting for that piece of paper since we returned from China. Now I can get her a Social Security number, open a bank account for her, etc.

That is all for now. Please go Hallie's Yahoo Group to see more pictures of her from the Baptism and the past weekend.

Hallie's Baptism

We celebrated Hallie's Baptism last Saturday, July 2nd, with our family and friends at the Cathedral. It was a very special day. Father Val was so wonderful to us and our family. Father Val married Brett and me, so it was special to us that he performed the Baptism. We did it during the Saturday 5 p.m. Mass. Hallie did very well! She left her hat on for the first part of the Mass. She flinched a little when Father Val placed the water on her head, but soon fell asleep! I guess all of the excitement combined with the warm water in the Baptismal font was too much! After Mass, our family came back to our house for a cookout and celebration. It was so nice that so many of them came from far away (Illinois, Missouri and Ohio). Hallie looked so beautiful in her gown, just like a little princess!
